1887, Newcastle upon Tyne; The Abermores are one of the richest and most wealthy families in England, prospering in particular thanks to the effort’s of family's eldest son, Lord Ashton Abermore (1), who recently succeeded his late father as director of one of England's wealthiest locomotive manufacture factories, which also boasts a prosperous political rise that brings him more and more closer to the English parliament; unfortunately his promising political career sees numerous obstacles dictated by his large and chaotic family, which causes him numerous headaches: his mother, Priscilla Abermore (2), a member of the board of directors of Abermore Industries and addicted to gambling, the younger brother Timothy (3), who distanced himself from the family due to old disagreements with his father and brother, has recently risen through the ranks of one of the most ruthless gangs in the city, becoming a dangerous criminal boss, and the debt-ridden older brother Cornelius (5 ) owner of a bankrupt brewery, married to Martha (6) who would like her husband to take her brother-in-law's place at the helm of the family to both improve their social status and repay their debts.
Helping Ashton is his sister Mathilda (7), his right-hand woman and assistant in his political campaign, married to Matthew (8), a young police inspector with a promising career, but still with his own set of problems as his sister Rosa (9), became the representative for the workers of Abermore Industries, who threaten to strike to obtain better working conditions, and the astute cousin Dalton (4), a businessman as brilliant as he is ruthless.
Ashton will have to work hard to try not only to keep his family together and safe, but also to avoid any scandals and problems that could affect his political career and his dream of becoming prime minister.
